Dress Code and Supplies

All students need a rain coat, rain boots, hat or cap for sun, sunscreen and bug spray, yoga mat and strap/bag, lunch box with chill packs or insulated lunch box, and a refillable, unbreakable water bottle. Please label everything with your child's name.

Kindergarten and preschool children need a nap mat labeled with their name. Please do not use the yoga mat as a nap mat, as the teachers want to have a visual cue for the different activities and transitions--nap mats are for rest, yoga mats are for yoga.  Please send in an extra set of clothes in a gallon bag (labeled with child's name!)

Most SCCS parents participate in a yearly group supply order for discounted art and school supplies.  If you choose not to participate in the group bulk order, please email the office for a supply list for the grade level that your child is entering. If you have any trouble obtaining the supplies or need financial assistance, please contact Ms. Sanders at principal@seasidecharter.org.

SCCS asks that children have:

Child friendly bottoms (shorts, skirts, pants, capri pants, leggings, tights, etc.) We understand that most children's clothes have some type of decoration--flowers, stripes, polk-dots, generic trucks, turtles, hearts, etc., but we ask that you avoid as much as possible bottoms that can be distracting or interfere with imagination and play (i.e., Disney characters, Teenage Mutant Turtles).

Shoes that can be secured to the feet and are suitable for playing, alking, and running (no flip-flops, sandals, or shoes with loose heels).  Due to the nature of the property (wildlife) and the need for children to be ready immediately in case of fire or emergencies, prekindergarten and kindergarten children should have sturdy indoor shoes in the classroom (no barefeet or socks).

Clothing, shoes, outerwear (jackets, sweaters, hats) and gear (lunch box, water bottle, hat) that are as free of distracting characters, cartoons, graphics, designs or corporate logos as possible. Again, we understand that most children's clothing has designs or graphics and that some gear will have logos, but avoid graphics, designs or logos that will interfere with play or imagination or that are not age appropriate.

The SCCS shirt is allowed any day. On designated days, clothing with other logos (i.e., sports teams, Dr. Seuss characters) will be allowed as part of  school community-building.

Shorts or leggings need to be worn under dresses and skirts for active play.

No necklaces, bracelets, hoop/hanging earrings, or rings. Post earrings are permitted. We ask that you avoid watches, which can be lost or broken.

Sun hats, sturdy footwear, rain coats and rain boots, and cold weathergear (layers of clothes) all play a
large role in ensuring the students’enjoyment of activities in all-weather. (Students will play and enjoy theoutdoors even when it is hot, cold, wet or raining).

In kindergarten, send in an extra set of clothes in a gallon-sized zip lockplastic bag.with your child’s name printed in permanent marker on theoutside. Print your child’s name or initials in
permanent marker or putlabels on all outerwear and gear. For grades 1-5, a change of clothes is optional
but recommended.

SCCS emphasizes a nurturing and healthy physical school
environment. Part of this effort involves students’ gear and clothing.
Students at SCCS are actively involved in learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Clothes worn to school need to be comfortable and simple. The students will get
dirty from playing, painting, gardening, etc. so please expect clothes to get dirty.  We will announce class and individual picture days, and will adjust the schedule to avoid your child getting dirty before the photographs are taken.

Each child is required to have a school shirt to attend field trips. If you are not able to purchase a shirt for your child, please contact the office to make arrangements.

Parent volunteers are asked to adhere to the dress code when on campus to work in a classroom or the office.

School shirts

Each student needs a tie dyed logo shirt for class field trips.  The cost of one shirt is included with group supply order participation.

Information will be sent out regarding the shirts by email and given at the parent information sessions. There will also be an opportunity to order additional shirts for children and adults.

(If you are unable to afford a shirt please contact the office and we will be happy to make arrangements)
